The Three Shortcuts To Success

Successful people have three important qualities which set them apart from the average and enable them to achieve their goals in half the time, and the good news is that you can also develop these qualities.  Throughout your life, you have experienced each of these, so you know what these abilities feel like - it’s just that, unlike successful people, you have probably never combined these three powerful tactics to leverage your outcomes before.

The first shortcut is that successful people have 100% clarity about what their goal is, how they are going to get there, what success will look like and why they are doing it.  They know what price they are willing to pay to receive the emotional benefits that are important to them.  Their vision is clear and they can articulate it.

The second shortcut is motivation - which is fueled by their passion.  They are driven to succeed because their goal has personal meaning for them in some way.  This does not mean that they are necessarily primarily motivated by money.  For many highly successful people, the money is a means to an end.  Their real passion may be to help others, to make a difference in the world, to gain a personal sense of satisfaction from their achievements or to leave a meaningful legacy behind.

The third shortcut is all about action.  By being lazer-focused, successful people achieve quick wins by focusing 20% of their actions on activites which will produce 80% of the results. If you need to increase revenue for your business then that is where you should focus 80% of your time and energy.  If you need to get into better shape so you can run a marathon, then spending your time on specific actions to create peak fitness is what you should be doing with 80% of your energy.

Many successful people also use the Ready, Fire, Aim approach. Ready, Fire, Aim is about starting quickly, failing (or succeeding) quickly, and finetuning quickly.  For people who have trouble focusing on just one idea, Ready, Fire, Aim can be a great strategy to implement, as it often enables you to move on to something new in a short space of time.

The Biggest Trap

I must also mention that the biggest trap which keeps us veering off course instead of taking shortcuts towards our goals is the preprogrammed blocks in our subconscious mind.  This deep rooted programming is the driving force behind all of our actions - it is what causes us to make the choices we make, and ultimately fail or succeed.

If we want to succeed, then reprogramming our brains for success is a vital step. Once we learn to leave behind our self-defeating behaviours and patterns your life will change! Changing our inner programming creates new neural pathways in the brain, and our habits, beliefs, actions, and feelings which will be ones that allow us to move quickly towards our goals and dreams.

If you have ever felt fear, stress, worry, concern, depressed, anger, etc. when you think about your goal? Have any of these thoughts made your paralyzed and unable to move forward? To begin to understand where your self-sabotaging behaviors are located in your inner programming, ask yourself these questions:

What is the pay-off for me by continuing to avoid this task?

What is the three biggest obstacle to starting/completing this task?

What is the worst thing that can happen to me if I start/complete this task?

By answering these questions, you will begin to understand why you may be experiencing self-doubt or self-sabotage.

Steps You Can Take

Create A Vision:  Often people have a desire they wish to achieve, yet they also have some element of the desire that they do not want. If you experiencing this, try to find a way to connect pleasure to the element you don’t like. Once you can connect pleasure to all elements of your actions and desires, you will more easily be able to focus and achieve your goals.

Develop A Plan Of Action:  Create a simple action plan that you can follow and begin to see results fairly quickly. Seeing results quickly builds confidence and motivation and creates passion for what you are doing. Create a action plan by choosing your highest priority goal and pick the top 3 actions that will have the biggest impact toward your goal. Do NOTHING ELSE on your goal until these things are done - and be sure to put aside all the other exciting ideas you have for later.

What Happens Next?

The strategies I’ve shared with you here are very powerful, but just knowing them is not enough! You have to put them into practice in order to start seeing results. However, without the knowledge on how to reprogram your mindset and reframe your beliefs, nothing will change easily for you.
